Flashback

Flashback 2022 - At Stark, our sights are always set on the future – a sustainable future, made possible through making mining better. But once a year, we take a look back… to reflect on our journey towards that tomorrow.

Catch up with our highlights of year

It is heartening to see that our pledge to make mining better has touched a chord with so many in the industry. People have latched onto our resolve and are embracing our thinking, which we’ve summed up as: “in a world where mining is essential, we want to do as little harm as possible, using every opportunity to reduce negative impacts.” This commitment is the crux of our Vision 2030.

New people, new places

We’ve invited like-minded people to join us on this journey, people who share our vision of sustainability in mining. And here’s the most gratifying part: Thanks to our clients’ continued confidence in our abilities, we’ve been able to grow our Stark family by 120%, opening new office in Germany, close to Hamburg and growing our Stark Campus in Centurion, South Africa.

Serving clients globally to respond quickly to commodity trends

Throughout the year, we have put our increasing collective talent to good use – finding the best opportunities for innovation in mineral processing around the world. We approached each new project by rethinking the very concept of mineral processing, starting right from the ore body first. Often, we integrated traditional technologies with novel ones, or we would apply proven processes in new context. It is encouraging that – through fresh thinking - we’ve succeeded in enabling miners globally to respond more quickly to commodity trends. Smart. Simple. Fast.

Premier African Minerals Lithium and Tantalum Project

Here, at Premier African Minerals’ Zulu lithium and tantalum project in Zimbabwe, we are building a modular sensor-based sorting pilot plant from scratch. The plan is to have the mine in production in record time — just six months after breaking ground. To see tangible proof of our concept of quicker to market, follow the progress on this page and on LinkedIn over the next few months.

For now, you’ll get an idea of the location from this video. (Check out our foldable, portable conveyor belt. Unlike conventional conveyors, this one can be up and rolling in days, not weeks.)

Awesomeness in Oz – Burgundy Diamond Smart Modular Plant

The recovery of an octahedral fancy yellow within the first weeks of production at Burgundy Diamond Mines in Ellendale, Western Australia. was great news for us and our client. What thrilled us most was that it was largely as a result of the modular XRT sorting solution concept that we had integrated into the flowsheet, incorporating a TOMRA COM XRT 300/FR in collaboration with our very capable sub-contractor, EIG Australia.

Teaming Agreement with WCE in Namibia

Another heartwarming highlight of 2022 was when we teamed up with WCE Consulting Engineers in Namibia for to explore opportunities in this region. You are curious to know more about the capabilities? Our Jolene Saaiman will be happy to discuss a project setup with you. We’ll post updates on this page and on LinkedIn as our involvement deepens.
